I’ve packed my summer clothes away in the hope that it will be warm and sunny here in the UK.
It’s been unseasonably cool here in the northwest of the UK. I think most of us here have been disappointed to see the rain hanging on just that little while longer. My plants have loved the weather but me? No.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure I’d be one of the first to complain if it was twenty six degrees all week but where is the balance? I’m not asking for much. 14 degrees is too cool!
Let’s all just cross our fingers and hope that it sits somewhere between 18 and 22.
In a last ditch attempt to awaken the summer gods, I have put my summer clothes away. This may or may not be what it takes but I’m still doing my bit…
Another thing that will really get summer going is thinking of shells. I am sure of it!
Feel inspired by these seashell patterns for summer. Let’s start with this youtube tutorial showing you how to do the classic shell stitch:
There are a range of styles that you can create with the crochet shell stitch.
Pictured top left to bottom right: Sno’ Big Deal Cowl, Aurora Nox Shawl, Shell edging on the Disturbia shawl, The Wave Cowl.
The shell stitch is lots of fun and you could use it for accessories, clothing, blankets and trims.
If you’d like a stitch guide to show you how to make this stitch as well as the four other basic stitches, you can find my crochet stitch guide for beginners here.
Have a great week and tag me in any shell projects you’re working on this month.
The shell stitch is one of my favorite crochet stitches, it has a vintage flair but is so timeless! I know people will find your tutorial on how to do it helpful, so I've shared it with my readers in my Thursday post.
